Welcome to the site of the SCVis Tool. This tool is the result of an Erasmus Plus project with the following partners: ESSCA, The University of Gloucester, Technological University Dublin, Politechnico Milan and International Hellenic University - Thessaloniki.
The purpose of the tool is to provide a means of self-assessment for those who wish to carry out a particular role in the fashion supply chain. Each defined role consists of a set of knowledge areas- the user is assessed for each area. If necessary, the user will be directed to some learning resources that are universally available to allow for a brief recap(itulation). Finally, feedback will be given for the chosen role in the context of knowledge areas; those that ‘known’ to the user and those in which the user exhibits a knowledge deficit in.
By completing the role assessment it is hoped that the user gains an insight into the knowledge required for the chosen role and the means of training / education best suited to addressing the user’s own knowledge deficit.
How to use this website.
1. You first need to register with one of the partner institutions. An account is created for you and a username and password is given. You can enter in your account and change any information you wish, at any time. If you know the name of the person who introduced you this tool and/or you have been given a “token” code, it is advisable to enter this information in your account because it helps us in organising your results.
2. Log on to the website. You will be presented with a brief explanation of the purpose of the website and a requirement for your consent to keep your name and email address.
3. Once you give your consent, you go to a ‘home page’ that provides a list and brief summary of all the roles. YOU MUST CHOOSE A ROLE in order to proceed. The roles are organised depending on whether they are strategic / operational and according to the supply-chain function to which they belong. CHOOSE CAREFULLY- try to pick a role that best suits your current level of experience and training.
4. Once you choose a role, you will be directed to a 'role home page' consisting of a list of KNOWLEDGE AREAS. You must complete all the knowledge areas before you receive your role report.
5. Each KNOWLEDGE AREA consists of:
- An initial set of questions
- A learning resource list
- A final set of questions
To pass a KNOWLEDGE AREA you must successfully answer a set of questions; a set typically includes 4-6 questions. You must complete a set of questions DURING A SINGLE SESSION- failing to complete the set means you start again on logging back on. If you answer the initial set successfully you are regarded as demonstrating the knowledge required to perform tasks required in the fashion supply chain. IF YOU ARE UNSUCCESSFUL you are directed to the learning resource list- typically containing a few links to selected articles, blogs, videos or other resources available online. The purpose of these resources is to enable you to clarify or revisit your prior knowledge- they are not intended as a learning resource to enable the novice user to gain an understanding. On accessing the learning resources you will gain another opportunity to answer a (different) set of questions (remember that you must answer all the questions during a SINGLE SESSION). If you answer successfully then you are regarded as demonstrating the knowledge required to perform tasks required in the fashion supply chain. IF YOU ARE UNSUCCESSFUL A SECOND TIME you are regarded as demonstrating a ‘knowledge gap’ and require further training or education to be able to successfully perform the tasks in the fashion supply chain.
6. Once you complete a knowledge area you will be directed back to your ‘role home page’. You will see that the knowledge area you completed is no longer available. You can continue to work through the knowledge areas. Remember that the MINIMUM you can do during a single session to record progress is a single set of questions- given this you can log on (and off) anytime you like.
7. Once you have completed all the Knowledge areas, you will find a button which directs you to your personal REPORT page. This final report itemises your progress and gives you feedback on the knowledge you exhibited for the role in question. There is an option to PRINT your report. Once you view or print your report, you can return to default view and click the “Role selection” tab in order to move to the home page in step 3. You can restart the evaluation process with other roles if you so wish.
